Here are
some of ADT's Previous Events:

December
13, 2007 – ADT Meeting:
This meeting was cancelled due to inclement weather.

October
11, 2007 – ADT Meeting:
We will be discussing abatements, and what research needs to be done to
submit one. We will also be talking
about elderly exemptions. The ADT has
come out against Exit 4A. It will
burden Derry with an enormous debt that will
take decades to recover from. The
amount of potential revenue is far outweighed by the burden of debt.
We will be talking about the upcoming March elections also.

September
13, 2007 – ADT Meeting:
After a very close election
in which the charter change lost by ONLY 45 VOTES, and a nice long summer,
the ADT will be holding it’s next meeting. It will be this Thursday, September 13,
2007 at the Marion
Gerrish Community
Center at 7:00pm. Please come join us.
March 2007 - Town Elections:
- There will be 3 council seats up for
re-election. District 4 (currently
held by Brian Chirichiello), District 2 (currently held by Chris
Reisdorf) and an At-Large seat (currently held by Pat Dowling) will be
challenged.
- The Charter Commission’s changes will be put
to the vote. These changes will
let the public, not just a majority of the Town Council make decisions
on the town budget and large bonds.
- Public Kindergarten will be posed to the voters.

February
22, 2007 – Final Charter commission meeting
The Charter Commission will
hold its final meeting before being dissolved on Thursday, February 22, 2007
in the Municipal
Center. Any final questions can be addressed here
at this public meeting.

January 10, 2007 – ADT Meeting:
* Education Funding and Property Tax Relief Plan Presentation
Hampstead, NH
State Representative Roger Wells and former Representative Michael Asselin
will give a presentation on a new State education funding plan at the Marion Gerrish Community Center
on Wednesday, January 10th, at 7 PM. The plan to be presented will meet
the Claremont
and Londonderry NH Supreme Court rulings and create significant local school
property tax reduction. The education
funding plan to be presented has been developed by a diverse bipartisan group
in search of real education funding solutions and proposes a definition for a
quality education in New Hampshire. Other States fund education grants at an
average of 50% of their total education costs. New Hampshire currently funds education
grants at 22% of the total education cost, leaving the balance to be funded
by the local communities. The proposed plan defines a quality
education, costs it and distributes the education grant money to each school
district in the range of 50% of school expenditures. The local property
tax burden will be decreased in each New
Hampshire community by paying for the State
obligation for a quality education through new revenue sources other than a
statewide property tax, income tax or broad base sales
tax. This meeting is open to the public.
Business leaders, School Board members, Governing Board members, State
legislators and reporters in addition to the public are encouraged to attend.
If you feel your property tax burden is too high or that the State obligation
for education funding needs to be defined, then you need to attend this
meeting. A Question and Answer period will follow the
presentation.
* Property Tax Abatement Discussion and Workshop
The ADT will be discussing
how to determine if filing a property tax abatement would be beneficial for
you. We will be talking about how to
do property comparisons and how to verify that the town has the correct data
about your property.
Members of the ADT will be
available to help with your abatement and/or the abatement process.
