Monday January 31, 2005 - General Public Meeting
7pm at Marion Gerrish Community Center
ADT will be having a General Public Meeting at the Marion Gerrish Community
Center located at 39 West Broadway (Rt 102). There is no cost to attend.
This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the Alliance of Derry Taxpayers.
Topics will include:
Quick 2004 in review.
Petition: Next step and current status.
Planning for Tax Workshop III on Tax Abatements.
Upcoming election in March - who's up for election and who's running.
Goals and plans for the March election- recruiting, evaluating, ranking.
Planning for Candidates' Forum for March Election.
Discussion of expanding ADT's function to web based local news effort.
Discussion and possible formation of workgroups for future/expanded projects (school board, other commissions).
Discussion of pending WDER interview and exploration of other means of getting the word out.
As part of this meeting, the public can inquire about the ADT, what the ADT is doing to lower their
property taxes, how they can help, and as time allows a General tax Q&A Session will be provided.

Tax Assessment Workshop Part III
Property Tax Abatements
With the deadline approaching to file for a Property Tax Abatement, the
Alliance of Derry Taxpayers will be holding their 3rd Free Public Workshop in a series,
on Property Tax Abatements at 7PM, at Marion Gerrish Center
located at 39 West Broadway (Rt 102) in Derry.
Anyone concerned with their property tax bill or the assessment on their
property would benefit from this workshop.
ALL ARE WELCOME AND ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND
Our Featured Guest Speaker for this Public Workshop will be:
Ed Naile:
Chair of Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers: www.cnht.org.
Host of the Live Radio Program "Taxpayer Radio" on 90.7 FM, Thursdays from 6-8pm.
Has aquired a vast amount of Property Tax Assessment & Abatement knowledge and experience.
Been on the front lines of appeals for several towns throughout NH, and has an
excellent understanding, of the rules that apply to the assessment process.
Been involved in several cases in which the assessment firms, hired by a New Hampshire town, did not
follow the rules.
During this exciting workshop, Ed's insight into assessments and abatements and the related processes,
will provide key information that each property owner/taxpayer should be aware of.
We are honored to have Ed joining us again in Derry, for this workshop.
This workshop provides a great opportunity to find out:
What to look for on your Property Tax Assessment Card.
How to file for a Property Tax Abatement.
Details on the Property Tax Abatement Process.
As time allows our guest speaker may be able to help with individual
issues/concerns.
NOTE: To get the most out of this workshop, attendees are encouraged to bring
a copy of their Property Tax Assesment Card, and other material from their
assessment file at Town Hall. (There may be a small fee to get this info
from Town Hall).
As part of the workshop, the ADT will present a brief update on their current
activities, especially those related to the upcoming election.

Public Forum: The Future of Derry Education
7pm at Marion Gerrish Community Center
In the spirit of the 3 Tax Workshops that we held last season, we will be holding our first workshop of this season.
The topic for this Public Forum is: "The Future of Derry Education".
Speakers will include:
Dr. John Moody, Superintendent of the Derry Cooperative School District
Jane Grady, Elected Representative of the New Hampshire Homeschooling Coalition
Richard Evans, Executive Committee member of School Choice: New Hampshire
The public is invited to attend this forum.
Each speaker will present his or her perspective on possible directions for
Derry education. Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity
for questions and answers. The forum will be taped for later broadcast on
Derry Community TV.
The forum will be held at 7pm at the
Marion Gerrish Community Center located at 39 West Broadway (Rt 102).
There is no cost to attend.
